Electric scooters are motorised vehicles and their use is subject to laws and regulations that vary depending on where you live.

UK Private E-Scooter Use

In the UK, privately owned electric scooters are currently not legal to ride on public roads, pavements, cycle lanes, parks or other public areas, unless they are being used as part of an authorised government rental e-scooter scheme.

Privately owned electric scooters may be used on private land where you have permission from the landowner.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you use your electric scooter lawfully and safely.

Before Riding

Before using an electric scooter, you should:

• Read and follow the manufacturer's instructions.
• Check that the scooter has been assembled correctly.
• Check the brakes, tyres, wheels, steering and other safety-critical components.
• Ensure the scooter is suitable for the intended rider and use.
• Follow the manufacturer's charging, storage and maintenance instructions.
• Wear appropriate protective equipment.
• Only use the scooter where its use is legally permitted.

Private Land

If using an electric scooter on private land, you must have permission from the landowner or occupier.

You should also check whether the land has any additional rules or restrictions relating to electric scooter use.

Public Road and Public Area Use

E-Scooter Hut does not represent that privately purchased electric scooters are legal to ride on UK public roads or public areas.

Purchasing an electric scooter from E-Scooter Hut does not provide permission, insurance, registration or any other legal authorisation to ride it in public.

Customers are responsible for complying with all applicable laws and regulations relating to the use of their scooter.

Other Countries

If you are purchasing from outside the UK, the laws relating to electric scooters may be different.

You are responsible for checking the laws and requirements that apply in your country, region or local area before purchasing and using an electric scooter.

Changes in the Law

Electric scooter legislation may change over time.

Customers should check the latest official government guidance before using an electric scooter.

Nothing in this notice affects your statutory consumer rights in relation to the purchase of an electric scooter.
